This beautiful character cottage tucked away in the beautiful village of Hascombe, Surrey under took a modest extension to increase the downstairs area to create wonderful living and dining area.
We needed to be sympathetic with the character of the cottage and our clients chose to use us for our skills in handcrafted, traditionally made bespoke cabinetry. We produce furniture that lasts the test of time, but for this property would also reflect the quality and age of the building.
Our clients wanted to create a relaxed entertaining space but also a space to cook and live everyday with plenty of worktop space. We started the kitchen design with the Aga. We wanted to create a wonderful focal point and highlight the vaulted ceiling that makes this space so unique. The canopy design, which houses an extractor, helps to draw the eye up and is complimented by the dramatic corbel designs each side of the Aga. The peninsular acts adds extra worktop space and cleverly divides the space between the kitchen and dining area that flows through to the next room
We alway work with the original features of the home - like the curve in the old external wall. We wanted to utilise it and make it a real feature. We did this by making a curved glazed cabinet for displaying glasses but also a stunning feature in the room that blends in with the house and is sympathetic to the cottages' character.
