Our clients in Four Marks really wanted to create a ‘wow’ with their bespoke contemporary kitchen. With an incredible view of their beautiful garden stretching down the valley from the old kitchen sink window in the corner, we realised we needed to take this window opening full length and replace it with a tall picture window. This meant the main kitchen cabinetry could be kept on the back wall and we could be really creative with a statement island!
We kept the design very symmetrical with the sink central, wall cabinets above and two pairs of tall cabinets either side for the ovens, fridge and larder.
To make the kitchen function well ergonomically, we placed the new Bora hob on the island opposite the sink. We wanted the handleless profile to continue as far round as it could both under the worktop and in the middle of the cabinets. For the design to look right we needed the raised bar to form part of the structure of the island. This was achieved by returning the side to meet with the island and increasing the height of the cabinets under the overhang.
To make an impact we used a textured copper colour on the island and the wall cabinets which contrasted perfectly with the Kashmir tone on the tall and base cabinets. Small touches introducing the wooden grip profile under the worktop tied in well with the bar top and legs, giving more depth and vibrancy to the overall style.
Contemporary design like this with crisp lines, contrasting tones and rich colour is timeless. It will look great and last for many years to come.
