Normandy Grey Bespoke Kitchen in Midhurst

Some home renovations completely transform the way a family lives, and this was one of them. Our lovely clients near Midhurst bought their house with the vision of creating a large open plan kitchen and dining space, and they took on a big project to make it a reality. With two energetic boys and a busy family life, they needed a kitchen that would not only look stunning but also stand up to the demands of busy family life.

Creating space

The original kitchen was much smaller, but with the large rear extension, we were able to add both width and depth. Where the patio used to be, there's now a bright and welcoming dining space, seamlessly connected to the kitchen. Natural light floods in from large ceiling lanterns and the wide sliding glass doors, take full advantage of the garden views. Whether it’s a sunny morning or a cosy winter afternoon, the family can enjoy a bright, open space that makes everyday life easier and that feels connected to nature.

Warm and inviting

With oak flooring running throughout, we wanted cabinetry that would complement the natural warmth of the wood. We chose Farrow & Ball’s Normandy Grey - a soft, calming shade that works beautifully with the flooring and creates a relaxed, timeless feel.

Island centrepiece

Wide walkways on either side of the kitchen island mean it never feels cramped, and its curved end creates a welcoming seating area where the family can gather. It’s the perfect spot for the kids to do homework while dinner is being made, or for friends to perch with a coffee and chat.

Open shelving on the side of the island offers space to store well thumbed cookbooks and display decorative pieces. Overhead, glass pendant lights provide a warm light, adding to the kitchen’s inviting atmosphere.

To keep everything organised, a bi-fold dresser next to the fridge-freezer holds all the breakfast essentials, as well as a handy extra pantry space for dry goods. This keeps the main worktops clear while making sure everything is still easy to reach.

The finishing touches

For the worktops, we went with 30mm Perla Grey quartz. It has a subtle cloudy texture that adds depth, and it pairs beautifully with the classic chrome cup handles and knobs on the cabinetry.

The kitchen is also kitted out with top-of-the-line appliances, including Siemens ovens, a Bora hob, and a Quooker tap at the prep sink on the island. These all make cooking easier and more enjoyable, whether it’s a quick midweek meal or a big family gathering.

A kitchen designed for family life

More than just a place to cook, this kitchen has become the hub of this family home. With its smart layout, carefully chosen materials, and thoughtful details, it’s a space that brings people together - whether it’s for family meals, homework sessions, or just a quiet cup of tea in the morning.

And that’s what a truly bespoke kitchen should be: not just beautiful, but designed around the way you live.
