In the picturesque village of Grayshott, Hampshire we had the pleasure of working with Andrew and Charlotte on their contemporary kitchen and utility room renovation earlier this year. The footprint for this kitchen project remained the same and turned out to be the perfect example of how thoughtful design can transform a space.
In the previous kitchen layout the hob was positioned against the wall, this can feel isolating and antisocial so we focused on creating an inviting island space. This new feature, equipped with a Siemens venting hob, allows for seamless interaction with family and friends while preparing meals. No longer confined to the corner, they can now enjoy conversation, whilst preparing and sharing food.
Storage was a significant consideration in this renovation, and we were determined to ensure that every utensil, pot, and pan had its place. The kitchen now boasts deep drawers and spacious cupboards, providing ample storage options to keep the countertops clutter-free. The design includes elegant glazed cabinets, perfect for displaying glassware and dining essentials, ensuring easy access without intruding on the main kitchen space.
A clever feature that has been met with much enthusiasm is the charging drawer - a clever addition that accommodates phones and iPads, keeping technology within reach while maintaining a tidy environment. This thoughtful addition speaks volumes about how modern kitchens should cater to contemporary lifestyles.
The aesthetics of the kitchen space are equally impressive, combining a soft, neutral light grey for the doors and floors with the warmth of oak carcasses and striking white/blue quartz worktops. This palette creates a contemporary yet timeless look, ensuring that the kitchen will remain stylish for years to come.
Continuity was a priority, so we extended the cabinetry design into the utility room. A Belfast sink adds charm, while a broom cabinet and a niche for drying racks further enhance practicality. Every element has been meticulously planned to ensure that this utility space serves its purpose without compromising on style.
Andrew and Charlotte’s kitchen renovation is a testament to the power of design. By carefully selecting flooring, soft furnishings, and accent details, they have crafted an atmosphere that feels light and airy, perfectly enhancing the space for both family life and the odd party!
