We were delighted to work with Fiona and Lyndsey on their once-in-a-lifetime 'Grand Design' project. It was an incredible opportunity for us to contribute to an exceptional build.
The building's unique architectural nature meant that the shape and form of the rooms added a lot of character to what we usually see with new build square spaces!
We aimed to add vibrancy to the kitchen space by combining different materials. The kitchen layout was relatively straightforward to plan since the room naturally lent itself to a symmetrical sink run under the window. This was our starting point, and from there, we centred the island, which housed the hob and downdraft extractor between the two side returns. We used a blend of book matched natural Ash timber, stainless steel, and a laminate colour for the base cabinets.
Designing a tall run of cabinets to house a bar was a great challenge. The retracting doors reveal a beautiful bar area with glass shelves and a small prep sink with two tall cabinets at each end for extra storage.
All the appliances used are fully integrated and have a fantastic simplicity that makes the kitchen very functional.
The space has all the elements of design required for a modern character kitchen, handleless cabinets on a simple resin-formed floor and halo effect lighting coming from the angled ceiling, adding to the drama of this unique and fantastic space.
