Contemporary Red Kitchen, Pantry & Bootility - Godalming

When Paul and Joan bought their modern home in Godalming, they could see the potential straight away - but the layout wasn’t quite right. So they reworked it. The kitchen was moved to the other side of the house, making space for a new internal flow that now includes a walk-in pantry and a fully refitted utility room.

The kitchen is from our contemporary German kitchen range - designed to be clean-lined, practical and built to last. The cabinetry is a deep garnet red with a matt anti-fingerprint finish. It’s handleless for a smooth, uninterrupted look, and it works beautifully in this light-filled space.

The island is a key feature. Made from oak with bookmatched grain, it brings warmth and texture to the room. There’s storage on every side, and we echoed the oak detail with a simple floating shelf along the back wall - just enough to keep favourite pieces within easy reach, without adding visual noise.

Inside the tall larder cupboard, internal lighting and open shelving make everything easy to find. The pantry, tucked behind a pocket door, gives extra space for food, small appliances and spillover storage - a detail that’s proved invaluable for daily life.

Worktops throughout are Technistone ‘Glencoe’, a pale quartz with soft veining that ties everything together. Siemens appliances are built in behind the cabinetry, and a Quooker tap offers hot water on demand.

Next to the kitchen, the utility room is finished in the same materials, with cabinetry in a soft ‘Beton’ grey. There’s even a broom cupboard hidden behind matching doors - one of those small but useful touches that make all the difference.

The flooring is a large-format limestone-effect tile - easy to clean, hard-wearing, and understated enough to let the materials and layout take centre stage.

This project is a great example of how a kitchen can be contemporary without feeling cold, and minimal without losing warmth. It’s a space that’s designed to be used - and enjoyed - every day.
